Betty & Emyak teaches children English through stories, games and speaking practice. Everything is inside the app: hundreds of words with pictures and meanings, a shelf of illustrated story books, grammar practice from first nouns to every English tense, idioms, and real conversations — every line of it spoken aloud in a clear British voice.
The games are there for a reason: a bored child stops learning. So English is how you play rather than a quiz between rounds — you beat the computer at air hockey by sending the right word into the goal, and you fly a ship and shoot the word that matches the picture.
Parents are not shut out of it. A parent dashboard shows what the child has actually done — only the things the app really records, nothing invented — and Calm Mode switches the fast arcade games off for a child who does better without them. Progress can be backed up and moved to another device.
There are no ads, no accounts and no sign-up. The app collects nothing — on Android it does not even request internet permission, so it cannot send anything anywhere.

Why it is built this way
It works in flight mode
Every word, sentence and story is recorded and shipped inside the app, so a child on a plane, in a car or in a house with no wifi gets exactly the same lesson. Nothing streams and nothing buffers.
It speaks on a phone that cannot
Most learning apps read text with whatever voice the phone has installed. A phone set to another language often has none, and the app is simply silent — a common and baffling complaint on children's apps. Here every line was recorded in advance in a clear British voice.
